Squares from Singapore and the USA!

Good Evening everyone!

I do apologise, I am late writing my post today. I have been out with my Daughter today and this is the first chance I've had to update the blog.

I am very pleased to tell you that I have received Squares from arien 156 (Singapore) and Debi Y (USA).

First of all let's have a look at the Squares from arien 156.

Jan Eaton Squares are always popular and for our special Jan Eaton Challenge I have received 'Nine Patch Granny'. No. 61 out of the Jan Eaton book from arien 156.  This is so pretty with the colours chosen, I'm sure you will agree. Also a lovely 'Two tone blue' Square and guess what a 'Watermelon Square' which is fantastic, just take a look!

I'm very grateful arien 156! They are so pretty!

I love your Squares arien 156, now I have made you a Slide Show!

Thank you for taking part in our SIBOL Challenges and for all the work you do on our SIBOL Rav Group!
Very much appreciated!

Now we will look at Debi's Squares from Crochet, Crafts & Gardening.  I will give you a link to the pattern used in these Squares because they are so pretty.

Debi has very kindly written some details down for us about the yarn too which is very kind, thank you!

The pattern  is  Debi's 'Squircle V2'.

Let's have a look at them.

Debi Y (USA) Your Squares arrived today! Thank you!

The green, brown, blue & white Squares are crocheted with Red Heart Super Saver in 'peruvian print'.

The orange, green, pink &  purple squares are crocheted with Red Heart Stripes in 'cancun stripe'.

The blueish greenish squares were made in Premier Deborah Norville Everyday Soft and the colour is Lagoon.

They are made in gorgeous yarn and I think my favourite is the orange variegated yarn. I just love all the colours in this one. The squares are so pretty, thank you Debi!

I have made you a Slide Show!

Thanks to both of you for the gorgeous Squares!
Until next time, bye.....

Watermelon Squares from Louisiana! (USA)

Good Afternoon Everyone!

Woo hoo!!! It's one of those exciting days..........

A knock came to my front door this morning. A man standing there with one of those funny little machines in his hand.  Could I have your first  initial please?  Could I have your surname please? Would you sign this please? Yes of course. Thank you Bye......

As I went back in to the house. I saw that it had come from wiLDaBoUtCoLoR over in Louisiana (USA). Now if you haven't heard of wiLDaBoUtCoLoR I suggest you pop over to her blog because this is a Lady who has gone terribly 'Watermelon Crazy!' over the last few months.  She has made everything from Pot Holders, Coasters, Pillows and lots more all in the Watermelon theme. Her work is amazing! Then the other day she suggested a new Challenge for SIBOL.  Yes a 'Watermelon Challenge'.  Now if you would like to take part details are over on our SIBOL CHALLENGE web-site.  But if you'd like some more inspiration please pop over to her blog and also have a look at these amazing Squares I have received in the post today.

Not only did I receive beautiful Squares and indeed yarn to make them up. I also received a gift for me! I know how amazing is that! A pair of Piggy Slippers, beautifully crocheted in pink. Aren't these just gorgeous!

OOh I can't wait to get outside!!!!! Piggies do you want to come!

What a kind lady, thank you Ellen. I was instructed to take a photo of me modelling them too, so if you look through the Slide Show you might just see me wearing them!

Oh how excited I have been this morning to receive these gorgeous Squares for SIBOL. wiLDaBoUtCoLoR has made them beautifully all so different.  It's going to be a Challenge for me now to put them altogether. The yarn Red Heart is so lovely too.  I just can't wait to show you the photographs I have taken this morning.

Created with flickr slideshow from softsea.

Did you also notice the Flag of the USA for our Olympic Blanket?  This is brilliant. A simple Granny Square as the base. If you want to join our Olympic Challenge details are once again over on our SIBOL CHALLENGE web-site.

Thank you so much Ellen for the gorgeous Watermelon Squares, Red Heart yarn for making up, card and indeed Piggy Slippers..... You are one kind lady to go to such a lot of trouble for SIBOL. Your work is fantastic and I'm sure everyone will agree.

Don't forget to check out Ellen's blog blog! I'm sure you'll love popping over.

Oh I would like to say welcome to Sandra our 400th Follower!

Bye for now

Sibolettes! Well done to you! We've done it again!

Good evening everyone!

It's so nice when I have news to tell you. I just can't wait to share it with you.

I did know a couple of months ago that SIBOL was going to feature in Knit Today. Last Friday the issue came out but I've had trouble getting a copy. Thanks to Melanie for telling me in the first place and also joyce28. This evening Mr. Twins has managed to scan me a couple of copies and now I am ready to share them with you.

Knit Today is a really lovely magazine here in the UK concentrating mainly on Knitting of course, but they do also have features on Crocheting and indeed patterns from time to time. I'm really pleased that our project was mentioned along with the Royal Wedding Blanket pictured.

Here is the main cover. If you click on the picture it will take you over to Flickr. Then go to 'actions' then 'sizes'. You'll then be able to read it..

Well done SIBOLETTES! We've done it again!

Then the actual article is here.

SIBOL has an article in Knit Today August 2011 Issue 62.

Thank you very much Knit Today!

I would also like to mention at this point that we will also be featured  in Simply Knitting. The issue No will be 85 and it will be out on September 6th.  They requested lots of photos and I've done my best to supply them with what I can. I have gained permission before sending the photos off to them. So let's see what happens in September. Something to look forward to.

Thanks to everyone for your comments on 'Endless Summer Flowers' and thanks to Marilyn for giving me an idea for the name.

So I think that's all for now.  Until next time, Goodnight!

Ta - Dah! Introducing SIBOL No. 73 - 'Endless Summer Flowers'.

I'm just loving the colours in this Blanket.

Good Evening Everyone!

I'm very happy to be showing you my 73rd Ta - Dah this evening.  It's called 'Endless Summer Flowers' and has been named by Marilyn. Thank you!   I've been trying to get some decent photos outside, but it's rather difficult when the sun is belting down on our 'south facing' patio. It was so hot
out there today.  So I went back out there about 5 o'clock to try again.

Thank you to everyone that has contributed Squares for this Blanket. I have thoroughly enjoyed making it up. I still get such a buzz even though I've made so many! I just love the colours in this Blanket. I have tried to use the same colours in the border  as in Maree's Flower Squares which are the two Squares each side of the middle Square. They are my favourite colours and actually the same ones in the throw I made a while back in my Conservatory.

Thanks to everyone that has contributed Squares for this Blanket. 'Please add note' if you see your own Square.

If you see your Square click on this photo and pop over to Flickr. I would love you to 'add note' on your Square!

I hope you like it. The Squares were amazing! I appreciate each and every one of them thank you!

The ribbon was supplied by Puppet Lady.
The Flowers by Chalky 75.
The Butterflies by Anakat.
The Squares by you, thank you!

Bye for now thanks for visiting 'SIBOL' today!

I'm also very happy to be telling you I had a large box arrive this morning.  The box was from ATheeC (Tinka) and her Daughter 'Annelinde'.

Tinka was telling me in an email yesterday how SIBOL  has given her such a lot of enjoyment.  It was around a year ago she found SIBOL over on Flickr.  She admired the beautiful Squares that were coming in and indeed the 'Sunshine Blankets'.  She thought at the time that she would like to take part in our Group. A year later she has sent in 182 Squares to SIBOL. At home she has made her own Blankets and Pot Holders and has even taught her Daughters to Crochet! She says that without our Group she wouldn't have had all these fun hours Crocheting!

Thank you Tinka, and I am so pleased you have taught your Daughters to Crochet. It's so nice to see this Craft being passed on!

Now I'm sure you will want to see their Squares!  I'm very pleased to be showing you the Squares because Tinka has been working so....hard for our Challenges. You will see what I mean.  The Squares are amazing and there are such a lot.  Now lets' have a look at what was in this box.!.......

SIBOL 'Spring Blanket' (1)

I've been out in the garden this afternoon, it was so warm and sunny. Quite humid in fact, but that didn't stop me from taking some photos. I'm sure you will want to see them.  Sit back and enjoy my Slide Show.  Still no Butterflies I'm afraid. I'm waiting for my friend Adam over in the States to sort out the technical problems over there.  'They are working on it  I have personally been assured!'.  I told him how important our Butterflies are to our Group!  Let's hope it's not too long before I can put them in my Slide Shows again. I do miss them fluttering.......

Thank you to everyone that has sent in Squares for this Challenge.  I am still waiting for Squares to come in for the Jan Eaton Challenge. May I have them now please? Thank you!

The Heart in Hand Project/ SIBOL NEWS

Good Afternoon Everyone!

Thank you all so much for the recent comments, very much appreciated.

From time to time here on SIBOL, it is rather nice to publicise others charitable causes. Today I would like to tell you about Kelly's project. 'The Heart in Hand project'.  Kelly is over in the States.

The project she is focusing on at the moment is making comfort blankets for the victims of the spring's tornado outbreak over in the States. She is making blankets out of Knitted and Crocheted Squares and if you would like to help please pop over and find out  more. She is collecting various sizes of Squares and I'm sure she could use your help.  There are guidelines to follow all information is written down clearly for you to follow.

On a lighter note my friend Melanie is telling me that SIBOL is in Knit Today this week.  I haven't seen a copy yet because Melanie subscribes and she gets her magazine 'super quick!'.  I can't wait to see it.  Thanks for informing me Melanie.

I am just finishing off the second Spring Blanket.  Doing those messey ends, so it won't be long before I can show you all.

In closing thank you all once again for the great comments. I'm so pleased that you like the Squares that have been coming in and indeed the latest blankets.

I think that's all for the moment,  have a lovely afternoon and don't forget to visit Kelly's blog. I wish her the very best with her new venture and I hope it is very successful for her.
