Join in the fun! We are celebrating our 500th Sunshine Blanket.

Good morning and welcome!

First of all may I say thank you for all the wonderful emails  I receive about our Sunshine Blankets for the Elderly. We certainly are churning out some lovely ones 'as usual'. If there is anything you would like to ask me please feel free to contact me on 'Sue' - sueatpigsty@talktalk.net

Who would have thought we would have made over 500 Blankets now! To celebrate we are making a special 500th Blanket and I am inviting you to take part.

The theme is 'party' and I am asking you if you would like to make a 6" Crocheted or Knitted Square with this theme in mind. So I'm thinking champagne glasses, fireworks, cake, balloons etc.. So put your thinking caps on and join in the fun.

Today I have received Squares from MailynJG over on RAVELRY and you are just going to love them. It has been quite difficult to think of ideas for this particular Challenge and Marilyn has tried something really different this time. 'SIBOL' is a place where we can share our 'creativity'  so I'm really pleased that she has tried something new for our Blankets.

We are in a celebratory mood! Thank you Marilyn!!

May I remind you please......... A message from Maria

Hello all,
There is a brilliant event going on over the bank holiday weekend at the Southbank Centre, a village fair with cake  competition, dog show and…….. some knitting ;)

Our group, the London Knaughty Knitters will have a stall, where we will teach people how to knit making squares for a SIBOL blanket.

Everyone in the group has been knitting like crazy over the last few weeks and we already have enough squares for two blankets, and we are not at the event yet!!!

If anyone is around London the Bank Holiday weekend, we would love to see you, make a square together, a butterfly, or just have a chat ;)
Also if you would like to pop by with your squares, we would be very happy to add them to our blanket or send them on to Sue.

Where and when:
Saturday 24th & Sunday 25th August
Southbank Centre
Our group will be in the Makers Market from 11-4pm, that will be in the Herb Garden at the Riverside Terrace.
Here is the link to the Southbank centre where you can see all the activities going on, it is going to be something else!!

What ever you are doing over the Bank Holiday have fun! Thanks for visiting 'SIBOL' today!

  1. Hello Sue. I've just had the amazing news that my blog will receive a mention in the next Saga Magazine due out next week. I'm planning to write a blog post about the blanket I am knitting for SIBOL. I will add a link to your site if that is agreeable to you. We should both receive lots of "visits" from like-minded people.

  2. Sadly, the Saga magazine is available only online by subscription. They have said they will send me a link to the article. If they do, I'll put it in my next blog post. I think a free subscription would have been nice....but never mind.
