A busy Monday for SIBOL!

Hi Everyone!

Well once again 'Thank You' for the lovely birthday wishes. My mail box had some lovely Birthday greetings in this morning,  I am in the process of replying to everyone! Very sweet of you thank you!

I peeped through the front door glass this morning and there were three packages! I have mailed the three Ladies to say their packages have arrived! Thank you to Luna, Karin, Rachael and her Mother! I hope you will pop over to Rachael's blog. She is telling the world something very special!!

Monday's are always busy for me in 'Two Times' there is always plenty of laundry to be done and rooms to be cleaned. So it's taken me a bit longer to get my photos sorted today. I have Mr Twins at home this week too and it's been a bit difficult to walk out into the Garden because he's painting fences 'still' and tidying up conifers.  I have electric cables lying over the grass and it's a bit difficult to get to my Photography studio! ha.ha. My 'table and chairs' !!  So I've had to make do with shots inside my Conservatory.

May I first of all thank Karin. I do hope you will check Karin's blog out. She lives in the Netherlands and just loves our SIBOL Challenges!  She's made some great Black and White Squares for one of our Challenges coming up and also some beautiful Squares for our Sea/Seaside Challenge. Aren't they just lovely? Thank you Karin!

Here's your very own Slide Show Karin, thank you so much!!

I also have to thank Rachael and her Mother (UK)  for the beautiful Squares that they have sent me today. I have quite a few Ladies who Crochet with their Mothers, I think this is so nice. I keep asking my Daughters if they want to learn but no not at the moment, they are more interested in going out with their friends and the usual things that 24 year old girls do clubbing and shopping etc.,  The Squares are going to be absolutely great for our Men's Challenge. A Selection of Colours and such a variety of different Squares! So thank you both very much!

Please tell your Mother I have your Slide Show running Rachael. I would so like her to see it. Thanks again.

Luna (USA)  has sent me some Squares today. They are wonderful for our Challenges coming up. We have some Squares for the Men's Challenge, Black and White, Sea/Seaside, Blue and White, and the Strawberry. You have been working hard Luna!  I know you enjoy SIBOL like the rest of us! The Squares are gorgeous please have a look at your Slide Show Luna!

I am so grateful to all of you for the wonderful SIBOL Squares. These Challenges are so much fun. I know from mail I get that you enjoy taking part in them. I also want to thank you for the very nice emails I get, telling me how much you enjoy SIBOL and how much you like the Blankets. Your comments are very much appreciated.

I am as usual welcoming all New Followers, you are most welcome to join our happy crowd.  SIBOL is by invitation only. If you want to 'team blog' with us please email me and I will send you an invitation out.

Well I'm off to sort out the Blue and White Squares now, thanks for visiting SIBOL everyone! Have a great day!

Squares come in from Kim today, which will be great for our  Men's

Guy Fawkes Night/Bonfire Night 5th November SIBOL Challenge.

Hi Everyone!

Today Mrs Twins has gone back to School  for a History lesson.   It's been a long time since I did any 'homework' so it's been quite a change  for me on this Tuesday morning.  ha.ha.!!

My research today has been on Guy Fawkes/Bonfire Night  for all my SIBOL friends. We have a Challenge on SIBOL for 'Firey, Bright, Sparkly, Explosive Squares!'  There may be friends in other countries who do not know about this yearly event so I will tell you.

Guy Fawkes was brought up as a Protestant, but later became a Catholic.  When James 1 became King in 1603, Guy Fawkes and other Catholics hoped for better treatment than they had received during Elizabeths 1's reign.  But James 1 allowed the persecution of Catholics to continue.  In 1604, a small group of Catholics, led by Robert Catesby, plotted to kill the King.  They invited Guy Fawkes to join them because of his ability to deal with explosives. (A bit of a bad boy I think!)

Anyway, the plan was to blow up the House of Lords when the King came to open Parliament on 5th November 1605.  They hired a cellar and filled it with gunpowder.  Guy Fawkes agreed to light the fuse. But the plot was discovered, and on 4th November Guy Fawkes was arrested.  Although he was tortured, at first he bravely refused to name the other conspirators.  Eventually he signed a confession, and was  tried and executed.

Guy Fawkes Night, also known as Bonfire night is an annual celebration held on the evening of 5th November to mark the failure of the Gunpowder Plot to blow up the Houses of Parliament.

All over the UK Fireworks are on sale, they have not as yet been banned as in Australia I think. Festivities are centred on the use of Fireworks and the lighting of Bonfires and of course many people make their own versions of Guy Fawkes to sit on top of the fires!

We have already had two beautiful Squares come in for this Challenge, can I remind you?

Margaret sent me these beautiful Squares

For our 'Bonfire/5th November Challenge.

Another great Square for Bonfire Night! Ooh! so brilliant Margaret, Thank You!

I have told you about the yearly event in the UK. Do you think now you could Crochet or Knit a couple of Squares with your own ideas?
There is a limit of 2 Squares
The Deadline is 31st September.

Why not have a go on our SIBOL Challenge? Thank you Karin for suggesting this post.

At lunchtime today I had two lots of Squares arrive.
I have combined them today in one Slide Show I hope you
don't mind Debi and Jean Nock.

DebiY  has sent in great Squares for our Men's Blanket and Jean Nock has sent in
Squares which have lovely Flowers in the centre. Both lots of Squares are really
nice and they will be so useful, thank you!!

Here's the Slide Show, sit back and enjoy Ladies!

Have a great day everyone and don't forget to have a think about the Bonfire Challenge!

Black & White and Seaside

Hello dear Sibolettes!
I've made four black and white squares already.

Yes, the fourth one is white. I must admit: I don't like the black part of the challenge.
Am I the only one having problems with not seeing stitches in black crocheted?
I'm glad there was the August-extra-seaside-theme!

And I've made one square that doesn't fit in any theme:

Or is it suitable for the Seaside blanket? Sue, it's all yours!

More Squares / Granny - Luna

This morning all my squares left to the UK. Hurrayyyyy !!!! YESSSSSS !!!

Ta - Dah! Introducing SIBOL No. 23 (Flower Theme 8)

Hi Everyone!

Well if you read today's earlier post I was so excited this morning because Joyce 28 sent me some Squares for the 'Sea/Seaside Challenge' and also the 'Mans' Challenge. Please click on 'older posts' I wouldn't want you to miss them. They are so original, really good ideas. Thank you again Joyce 28!

I had to take a break the other afternoon from Crocheting and catch up with a bit of work on here and also sort the Flower Squares out to see if I had enough to do any more Blankets.  I still had Lunas' Red and Blue Flower Squares + some Granny Squares of the same colour she sent. I decided to go through the 'Blue and White' Square collection I have and find some with the same sort of yarn to add to the Red and Blue, so I could make a full Blanket.  Wandas yarn seemed heavier like Lunas' (I still don't know what type of yarn it is. Is it the worsted type?' I had never heard of this until a few months ago on Flickr.   So I decided to use Wandas' Squares and also add one of Mollys and a couple of Netties. So yes I managed to find 25 Squares for that one. I realised when I was taking my photos that I really needed to even up the Flowers I needed one more. So luckily my Blue yarn matched and I used the video on the SIBOL Blog to make another Flower like Lunas!  If you haven't had a go at the Flowers scroll down the side bar and you will find it. It's so easy peasy!

Well this is the finished Blanket.  I'm really pleased how it's come out. Yet the border really gave me a bit of a headache. I just couldn't seem to decide what border to use. So I went for my favourite, but decided to do in the Red, Blue and White. It got me thinking about the next Challenge the 'Blue and White' one.  I have so enjoyed the 'Flower Challenge' but I'm ready to move on now. Well there will be 9 Blankets at 25 Squares each so that's quite a few!  I'm already thinking how I'm going to make the 'Blue and White' Blankets look different from each other. I have come up with some ideas, I just hope they work out. We will have to see.

I just can't thank you all enough! Beautiful Flower Squares, simply such a pleasure to work with!

Please 'add note' to your Square (if you can spot it!).

I'm off again and please don't forget to check out the post before, have a lovely evening everyone!

As requested a close up of the edging for this blanket.

Squares from the UK for the Sea/Seaside - Mens' Blankets!

Hello Everyone!

Well it's a very wet day here today in the UK. We've had such a lot of rain.  I'm just wondering whether our Summer has ended now, because as the days go on it feels like Autumn will be here sooner than what we think. The Flowers seem to be going off, well mine do anyway and the leaves are falling in the Garden. We need something to brighten us up. Let's think back to the hot Summer days we had recently........

You know we have a Sea/Seaside Challenge, well Joyce 28 has very kindly sent me some great Squares for this Challenge.  I think they are really, really good.  I just love the 'Punch and Judy' Square that Joyce 28 has made. The little beads in the sand are just such a good idea.  I'm going to show you a close up of this one so you can see them more.  Then underneath one of the Squares that Joyce 28 has sent for the Mens' Blanket. Once again she has used tiny beads.  As I've said before everyone has their own ideas, and it's nice to see the ideas coming through.
'Punch and Judy' Square for our Sea/Sideside Challenge. So lovely, a simply gorgeous Square!

I love this Square for the Mens' Blankets. Little beads in the centre, so cool, I love it ...>

Aren't they good? Now Joyce 28 are you sitting comfortably?  I'm terribly sorry I couldn't get out into the Garden, it's absolutely pouring of rain today.  I'm itching to get outside as well because I have finished a SIBOL.  Can't wait to take some photos, but 'I'm not gonna get wet!'

Here's your very own Slide Show and many, many thanks for the gorgeous Squares!

I told you they were good! :) Have a nice weekend everyone! Thanks for visting SIBOL today!
