Helping Cancer patients in Belgium. Would you like to make a Square/Blanket?

Good afternoon,

Some years ago when the 'SIBOL' project started a Lady in Belgium her username being 'theemuts' on RAVELRY contacted me offering help to make Squares for our project. This kind Lady had not picked up her Crocheting hook for over 20 years and the 'SIBOL' project inspired her to try again and over many months she sent me numerous Squares which we put into Blankets. She also sent me beautiful Blankets too which I gave to Care Homes here in the UK.

With the cost of postage increasing  Tinka decided to try and help people near to her own home. So she started making Blankets/Lapghans for Cancer patients at  '“Zorghuis Oostende'.

Last year she was able to send them 17 lapghans , 1 shawl and 1 pair of bedsocks. The Home were very happy to accept her work and they always let her know what the guests think of her Lapghans when they receive one. Last summer she visited the home, it was great to see with her  own eyes where the guests stay   during or after their chemotherapy. The Home runs on 2 halftime care takers and volonteers 24/24. Tinka tells me it was nice to meet some of the staff. They told her how her Lapghans change something for their geusts - they love the cheerful colours and all of them use them and take them home.

If you'd like to pop over to You Tube there is a short video of the Home here's the LINK. It looks a lovely Home and I think what Tinka is doing is absolutely fantastic. I am  so pleased that the 'SIBOL' project has inspired her to do this.

At the moment Tinka produces about 1 Lapghan a month for the organisation. She would like to make more can  you help please? Maybe if you live in Belgium or The Netherlands or any other part of Europe you would consider helping. I'm sure there are Ladies in the UK too who would like to make a Square for this worthwhile Charity.

Tinka would be happy to accept a square  measuring (15 cm or 20 cm/ 6 inch or 8 inch) so that she could put them into a Lapghan. OR if you have the time would you consider making a Lapghan for her. I'm sure she would be over the moon to receive one.

If you would like to ask Tinka any other question please contact her.

You will find her over on RAVELRY Here's the LINK.

PLEASE NOTE THAT SIBOL NO LONGER ACCEPTS SQUARES ONLY BLANKETS.
THANK YOU.
