It's nearly Valentines Day!

Hi everyone!

I'm very pleased to be showing you two super Blankets which arrived at the weekend from joyce28.

The first one is a beautiful Heart Blanket. This Blanket was a complete surprise and it was made out of Granny Squares. What a wonderful design! I love the combination of colours in this Blanket. I wonder whether joyce28 made it especially as we are near to Valentines  Day?  I have added two Butterflies and a dangling Heart. I think  I shall keep this Blanket and give it out when I take the Challenge Blankets in. It really is another piece of Art!

009

What a beauty! The Heart really stands out against the Green I think.

The second Blanket is 'Think Pink' (5). joyce28 has very kindly assembled 25 Squares for our Breast Cancer Care fund raising. I would like to thank everyone who contributed Squares for this special Blanket, it surely is a stunner. I love it. joyce28 you have made a great job of putting it altogether, the border finishes it off nicely too. I love the variety of the Squares in this Blanket.

I would like to thank everyone who contributed to this gorgeous Blanket.

Not only did  I have these two Blankets arrive I also had a donation of Squares for our Challenges. You are one talented Lady joyce28. These Squares are amazing I love them.

Marie Curie Cancer Care Challenge Daffodil Blanket 3/9

Good Afternoon,

I am so....excited to be popping in to SIBOL this afternoon because I had a parcel arrive this morning from mandas challenges here in the UK and inside was a gorgeous Daffodil Blanket.  mandas challenges had tried  out a pattern which was designed by theemuts over on RAVERLY. After having a go at the Square she completely got 'hooked' on them and before she knew it  she had 23 before her eyes. Making that many she decided to make the 25 for a Daffodil Blanket and this is what she has come up with.

A gorgeous Daffodil Blanket mandas challenges. Thank you so much!

Isn't it gorgeous! It's a beautiful Square and I am very grateful to theemuts for allowing the SIBOLETTES to use her pattern. It's nice to use different background colours to see how the Square changes but still keeping the yellow of the Daffodil. I absolutely love it and this has saved me from collecting 25 Squares!

Created with flickr slideshow.

mandas challenges also made these pretty Squares.

mandas challenges 'Marie Curie Cancer Care Daffodil Challenge' Thank you!

Another Daffodil Square and  an Owl Square. I'm sorry we have finished the Owl Blanket now, but if it's okay with you I will keep the Square for the future. The Owl design is one of mandas own designs.

Owl Square. Thank you!

I'm so grateful to theemuts for designing the Daffodil Square and also to mandas challenges for a wonderful Blanket which will be donated to one of the 9 Marie Curie Cancer Care Hospices throughout the country.

Thanks for visiting today!

I love Grannies!

Good Afternoon,

This morning I received a parcel from Sally here in the UK. She has very kindly made these two Blankets for the Elderly. What a  surprise this morning I had no idea.  The first one a traditional Granny Square Blanket made in every colour you could imagine. What a fantastic way to use up un-wanted yarn.

The second is a Granny Square Blanket again made with smaller Squares. I love the colours in both Blankets  and both have really good complimentary borders.

What a joy Sally! Thank you very much indeed. You have spent quite a few hours working on these two Blankets and I really appreciate your help.

Let's take a look at them now.

A beautiful Granny Square blanket

A gorgeous blanket.

Fantastic work.

I've made a Slide Show now for you! Enjoy looking at these two Blankets.

Challenge Squares arrive from Scotland.

Good afternoon,

A lovely day here in the UK, sun is shining and we've had some great Squares arrive from jenn1feranne (RAV) (Scotland) today! Thank you so much!

jenn1feranne has made some really interesting Squares for our Challenges.

Let's take a look at them now.

First I have two Squares for our Transport Challenge. The first a Hot Air balloon, such a different form of transport! I've always wanted to go up in a Hot Air balloon, amazing as I don't like heights! This is a beautifully Knitted Square and I love the bright colours in the balloon.

'Transport Challenge'.

Over on RAVELRY we have a Birthday thread and when it's anyones Birthday we hop on to the Birthday Bus and travel sometimes thousands of miles to wish our Group member a Happy Birthday. 'jenn1feranne' very kindly up-dates this thread for us and she does a fantastic job too. Several months ago she drew the Birthday Bus for us and if you look closely you can see a Birthday cake, balloons and even SIBOLETTE's with a glass in their hand! This is a great drawing 'jenn1feranne' we have always liked it. 'jenn1feranne' is such a talented Lady that she has Knitted a Square with the same design and this will go in the centre of our Transport Blanket.

'Transport Challenge'. - 'SIBOL' Birthday bus designed by jenn1feranne! Thank you!

Absolutely brilliant don't you think?

The next Square is for our 'Underwater Challenge'.

'Underwater Challenge' - Great Square.

Fantastic once again.

Then we have two Squares for our Marie Curie Cancer Care Challenge. Wonderful Daffodils. We have just collected over 4 Blankets worth now, but we need more please!

'Marie Curie Cancer Care' Challenge.

'jenn1feranne' (RAV) Scotland. Thank you for these great Squares.

Thank you so much for taking part 'jenn1feranne', fantastic ideas.  My photos could have been better the light was too bright today. Shouldn't complain about the Sun should we!

Thanks for visiting today!

I hope these Squares, Find their way to you, They're made with love And Friendship true. And though the miles And seas divide, Our crafting love Is just as wide. So make some Squares, For Mrs Twins, To spread some warmth And give some grins. When we give Squares, That we're proud of, We show we care With warmth and love. So, when crafters unite, Hooks and threads they twirl, For those in need, You mean the world.

Whilst rummaging in the scrap cupboard, I heard a plaintive cry " She never looks in our little bag, Can you tell me why? " A voice replied, "We're old and tatty, A little bit worn out, Our colours dull, our fibres matted, Now don't give me that pout!" "But I want to be a 'Sibolette', I really, really do! To be part of a Sibol, Made by the lovely Sue. It's my destiny, my dream, my fate!" The voice was getting higher, "I may be old but it's never too late, I'm not ready to retire". "Oh gosh", I thought, That sounds like me, Slightly worn, with a dodgy knee. So I'm off to college, A Diploma to gain And the voices of the Lost Stash? "Sibolettes" they became!

Saturday Squares from South Africa and the UK.

Good Afternoon,

My work does not stop even on a Saturday afternoon!

Thank you very much to bonsall (UK) and also to cromad (South Africa) for Squares received this morning.
Beautiful Squares for our Challenges. Please follow the link if you want to take part!

Let's take a look at the Squares received from bonsall first.

bonsall has made some Squares using Tunisian Crochet and also Freeform. These Squares are very pretty and as bonsall was saying Tunisian Crochet gives a nice base to the Square, makes it so much firmer.

bonsall (UK) Challenge & Stash Squares Thank you!

Stash Squares are pretty bonsall!

Challenge Squares.

A gorgeous Poppy for our 'Wartime' Challenge and also a Square for our 'Leaves Challenge'.

Thank you very much bonsall, I love them.

Challenge Squares arrive from South Africa.

Good evening and welcome to 'SIBOL',

I have had some Challenge Squares arrive today from 'cromad' (RAV) who lives in South Africa. I am so
pleased you have taken part in our SIBOL CHALLENGES. Your Crocheted Squares are very interesting.

We have quite a lot of Challenges taking place at the moment and they are all on our Challenge Blog here's the link. Please feel free to take part. My address is available by email Sue on sueatpigsty@talktalk.net

I was asked a few days ago 'What's the difference between Stash Squares and Challenge Squares?'
I will explain.

From my recent visits to homes the Elderly find our Blankets real talking points especially out 'themed' Blankets. Ones in the past have been for example Faces, Sun, Farm, Spring, Children, Easter, Christmas etc., I invite Ladies to send me Crocheted or Knitted Squares with a particular theme in mind. At the moment we have  Transport theme, Gardening, Fruit & Veg, War, Marie Curie (Daffodils), What a Wonderful World, Butterfly and many more in progress. These are for  our special Challenges.

So Squares arrive at my home and I assemble them in to the 'themed Challenge' Blankets.

I also require 'Stash Squares'. Many Ladies do not have time to meet deadlines for the Challenge ones, so they Knit or Crochet 6" Squares of any Pattern. These can be made in any colour and don't particularly have
any requirements except that they must all be 6". These can be made when-ever you like and sent to me.
This is a good way of trying out a new pattern.

Let's take a look at cromads' Squares now.

cromad (South Africa) Thank you!

cromad has made for instance........

A Butterfly Square for our special 'Butterfly Challenge' (top right).
Pattern: Stained Glass Crochet Butterfly Square by Papillion Gold.

A Leaf Square for our 'Leaves Challenge'.
Pattern: Falling Leaves Faux Freeform by Donna Kay Lacey.

A Sun Square for our 'What a Wonderful World' Challenge (top left).
Pattern: African Sun by Edith E. Smith.

A Daffodil Square for our 'Marie Curie' Challenge.
Pattern: Anne Halliday Square No. 76 of 99 Floral Motifs.

A Star Fish for our 'Underwater' Challenge.
Pattern: Smoothfox Star Fish by Donna Mason-Suara.

These Squares have been made beautifully and it is a pleasure to receive them. Thank you also for enclosing the details about the Squares, this will be really helpful to others.

Thank you so much cromad for sending them to me. Very much appreciated.  I am so pleased you enjoyed making them for SIBOL.

This Blanket is so pretty  and with your permission 'jean nock' I will put it with the other 'Think Pink' Blankets hopefully raising some money for Breast Cancer Care. I think the best time will be around September/October.
