Blanket deliveries today!

Good evening everyone!

Welcome to 'SIBOL'.

As you can see from the photo above I have been getting the blankets ready for our deliveries to the homes. It's so nice to put ribbons, butterflies and our 'SIBOL' cards on to them, they  look really pretty. I would like to thank everyone at this point for the wonderful support I receive from many Ladies all over the world in sending me squares and indeed made up blankets! Without you I couldn't do what I do!

Our group has been running over 2 1/2 years now and in that time we have made well over 200 blankets. I have met Ladies from all walks of life and we all have something in comon 'Knitting and Crocheting'. There is only so much we can Knit or Crochet for ourselves or our family and it's so nice to do Charity Knitting for others.

My choice of 'Charity work' was for the Elderly in memory of my Grandmother as you know who lived to the wonderful age of 103.  She was such a remarkable Lady and I admired her greatly for her love to her family, her knowledge of History and Politics, her kindness to others and someone who was just so interesting to talk to. Living to the fine age of 103 as you can imagine we had many conversations about events happening from years ago  and she was very fortuntate that she could live independently until the sad day when she passed away. She was no trouble to anyone ever and she loved all of us as we did her.

I realise not every one can live at home independently and often the Elderly have to go in to Nursing homes or sheltered accommodation. Today we visited Rowheath House where there are individual flats for the Residents  where they can live independently but also know there is someone to look out for them. Anne and myself gave out some more of our blankets to Ladies and one Gent and they were just so pleased to receive them. The Residents were just so very thrilled to receive such wonderful blankets and they  wanted me to thank you all. To know that these squares have come from all over the world really interested them and I explained how our group was started again and all about my Grandmother

The Residents who we met at Rowheath House really had a happy Monday morning receiving our blankets and Anne and myself received a great deal of satisfaction knowing that the blankets were well received.

After the visit to Rowheath House, we went nearby to Christopher Taylor Court. We were shown in to the Lounge where we met a small group of Ladies and once again we showed them our blankets and they chose their favourite colours. They too were absolutely over the moon with the blankets and they all said what a nice thing it was to do for them. So once again thank you very much. We are due to go back to Christopher Taylor Court on Friday where we will take our remaining blankets to them.

Our blankets certainly brought smiles to their faces knowing that someone had been thinking of them so thank you all very much.

Unfortunately due to handing the blankets out I completely forgot to take any photos, so I'm sorry about that. Anne really enjoyed her morning too and I'm so pleased she came with me. So thank you Anne 'pippas45' over on RAVELRY.

These are the blankets we handed out today.

I would like to take the opportunity of telling you that Judith has a website where she sells special 'Charity Knitter's sacks'.  These really are great value and if you follow the links you will find out more information.

I have put up a link on the right hand side of the 'SIBOL' Blog because my Blog moves along really quickly with new blankets and squares and I really wouldn't want you to miss the opportunity.

Thanks Judith.

So in closing if you think you would like to help 'SIBOL' carry on it's wonderful work for the Elderly please follow the link to SIBOL CHALLENGES. You will see details of how you can help, maybe making squares for our 'Challenges only' at this point in time or maybe making a 25 square blanket.  Our normal square collecting will resume in January 2013. At this present time I am busy making up the squares that I have here at 'Two Times' before I collect any more for our stash. It is very important that I am able to use the squares that I have here first.

Thanks for visiting this evening,

x Sue x

What ever happened to the Olympic Blanket?
Did you see the moon cozy up to the Olympic Rings on Tower Bridge in London? Wonder if the moon had to get special permission to do that?
    Love,
    Kay
