Good morning and welcome to 'SIBOL',
First thing this morning I had a parcel arrive from Sally here in the UK. Sally has been working very hard along with the other Ladies helping me get these blankets made up. Today I received two beauties which I have called 'Allsorts' and 'A blanket of many colours'. These two blankets are so bright and cheerful just what we need for the homes. The Elderly love bright colours they can see them better I am told and I'm sure these two will be loved by them.
Sally has been making up Knitted squares for me the first one called 'Allsorts' has a variety of plain coloured squares and indeed stripey ones. I'm sure you will agree she has made it up really well indeed. I love how she has placed the squares and particularly the striking border. A red ribbon finished it off this morning and two red Butterflies.
The second one is really pretty too. Once again a nice cheerful blanket incorporating this time Knitted and Crocheted squares. Take a look at this one. I would like to thank everyone for sending in squares for these two blankets. Sally has done an amazing job of assembling the blankets. Thank you very much.
These two blankets arrived just at the right time this morning because I had planned to pop in to St. Bernards Care home in Olton. So as soon as the blankets arrived I found some colourful Butterflies and ribbon and made the cards ready to take these two with me also.
9 wonderful blankets ready to go off once again on their travels. So nice to see them all ready for the off, tied up with ribbons and Butterflies.
Off I went to St. Bernards Care Home. If you would like to click on the link you will see where I went.
Our blankets were very well received once again today. I have been to this home a few times now and every time I am met with warm, friendly Staff. The Lady in the photo remembered me from previous times and she very kindly agreed to having her photo taken so I can show you where our blankets have been received. This is very important to me because it's the end of the journey if you like. I feel an obligation to you all to show you where the blankets are given out.
This is Katia's blanket 'Flashy blanket' from France. The member of Staff (I'm sorry I forgot to ask her name) was telling me that when they make the beds they always fold the blankets into triangles and place them at the end of the beds. She said they look so pretty. We had a discussion about the blankets and how they are used and they really are very useful whether it's sitting outside in the grounds, or maybe in the middle of the night sitting on a chair when they can't sleep. I know the homes I visit are always lovely and warm but as you know there are times when you just feel you would like something to give you a bit of comfort. They do have some new Residents and these blankets will be given to them.
Thank you very much St. Bernards for accepting our blankets and I hope the Residents enjoy them as much as we have enjoyed making them.
Thank you to everyone that contributed to these particular blankets I am always very grateful for your help.

Beautiful blankets. Love the bright colours and all the design variety. Well done to all the generous contributors.
ReplyDeleteThe perfect end to these blankets story! What a treat that they are valued by the staff. I bet it brightens up their day too!
