'Calling all Knitters and Crocheters!' Join in our 'Marie Curie Cancer Care 'Daffodil Challenge'.

Marie Curie Cancer Care 'Daffodil Challenge' for 2013.

Good Morning everyone!

What does 'SIBOL' do best? 'Make Blankets!' You are right.  We have such a large group of talented Ladies from all around the World who love to show off their Crocheting and Knitting Skills and I was thinking it was about time we had another Challenge.

I am busy finishing off the normal 'Sunshine Blankets' for the Elderly and that is a Challenge in itself  but I have to think about the future while I am doing so.  So.......my next large Challenge for 2013 is to make either

1 -  Large 100 square 'Daffodil Blanket

or

4 - 25  square 'Daffodil Blankets

This is in aid of 'Marie Curie Cancer Care'.

I am not sure what we will do with the Blanket(s) yet.

We may auction on EBAY and give the proceeds to The Big Build where they are raising money to build a brand new Hospice in the West Midlands area of the UK.

OR

Donate the Blanket(s) to The  Blooming  Great Tea Parties. Each year different people hold Tea Parties where they bake cakes and dish out tea.  They also hold Raffles. We could donate a Blanket so that they could raise money.

The money raised helps nurses and goes towards  those who are terminally ill with Cancer.

Deciding .....can come later. But the main thing is now that we start collecting 6"  (15cms) Squares with 'Daffodils' as the theme.

Why not Knit or Crochet a Square and send it along to me.
My address is available if you mail me
Sue on sueatpigsty@talktalk.net

IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOUR SQUARE IS 6" (15cms). PLEASE USE A RULER!
.
PLEASE ATTACH A TAG ON THE BACK OF YOUR SQUARE IN THE CENTRE WITH YOUR NAME AND COUNTRY WRITTEN ON.

MAKE THE SQUARE(S)  IN ANY COLOURS YOU LIKE!

I AM ACCEPTING ONLY 100 SQUARES FOR THIS CHALLENGE.

MY DEADLINE HAS NOT BEEN DECIDED YET.

BUT IT'S THE FIRST 100 SQUARES TO ARRIVE THAT WILL GO IN THE BLANKETS.

Marie Curie Cancer Care 'Daffodil Challenge' for 2013.

PERHAPS YOU HAVE IDEAS OF  WHERE THESE BLANKETS WILL GO?

Maybe Hospices? Maybe Tea Parties? Maybe auction on  EBAY?

Your thoughts would be appreciated. I would like to know them.

I'm sure we can have a lot of fun with this Challenge and if you want to
pop over to the RAVELRY thread please do!

Thank you!

UPDATE FRIDAY EVENING.

I had some post at lunchtime and I'm very happy to be showing you a gorgeous blanket sent in by Carolyn. Carolyn has made a beautiful Lilac and white blanket and this one really is so.....interesting. Can you see the four Squares in the middle?  I love the one with the large Flower. A tiny white Butterfly is crocheted on to the Blanket which is just so delicate  and I have also added some Lilac Butterflies from my 'SIBOL' Stash.  I keep looking at this Blanket because there seems such a lot to take in. I really love this one, very feminine and calming I feel.

I'm sure there is going to be an Elderly Resident who loves these calming colours. Carolyn you are terribly kind making this for 'SIBOL'. How nice of you thank you so much.

Let's have a look at it now.

This really is quite interesting. I love the colours, I love the four squares in the middle. I love the Flowers and Butterfly too! Beautiful work, thank you!

Of course your Slide Show now! Sit back and enjoy Carolyn! Many thanks a superb blanket for 'SIBOL'.

Golly there is a lot to talk about today! I am very excited today because in the post with Carolyn's Blanket I received some Squares from Beang on RAVELRY. Now Beang has been terribly helpful to me by sending in some Squares for our Challenges. I was short on Squares for the 'Faces' Challenge in particular.  Now when looking through the Squares I realised that Beang had Crocheted 'my Grandmother's face!' If you compare the photo underneath you can see she has captured her so well!

This square was made by Beang for the 'Faces' Challenge but I think it is perfect for my 200th Blanket. Yes Beang has crocheted my Nan!

This really is an amazing Square Beang and I am going to put it in the 200th Blanket. I can't wait to show my Mother. Thank you so much.  I also received two Squares for the Irish Rose Challenge. These have come out so well too! Your help with the Challenge Squares has been very much appreciated  Beang. Also in the package was some Butterflies for our 'SIBOL' Stash.

The other thing I want to mention is that over on RAVELRY we are having a 'Freeform Challenge'. Now 'creativegranny' is inspiring us to pick up our hooks and have a go at making a Freeform Square. I have never ever made one in my life, and I really wouldn't know where to start! But she is giving advice to anyone who needs it.

Would you like to take part in this Challenge too?

All Squares must be sent to me and then I will forward them on to 'creativegranny'.

The squares will be assembled in to either a Cushion Cover or a Wall Hanging and it will be shown at the Craft Group talk next March I have to attend. Afterwards it will be raffled amongst the 'SIBOLETTES' who took part.

All details are over on RAVELRY.
Please pop over!

Well I think that's it now, I'll chat soon.

Thanks for visiting 'SIBOL'.
