It's been a long time

It’s been a long time.
Too long really. Back in July 2010 I discovered SIBOL and decided to make some squares up for Mrs Twins as a way of distracting me during my breakup with my boyfriend and subsequent moving out of the flat we shared.

I swore that I would make more squares again soon but I failed miserably and before I knew it, it was 2011 and I hadn’t kept up my promise. Oh the shame.

The beginning of 2011 also coincided with some money problems that I was having and I was feeling irritatingly sorry for myself. I had no money to go out and see people, I was worrying about paying the bills and just generally whingey and annoying.

And then I remembered SIBOL. And I remembered that making those squares last time allowed me to remove myself from all my worries and just do something nice for someone-else. It’s incredibly gratifying to get out of your head sometimes.

I went for the 2-tone green granny square challenge because, well, it looked like the easiest. My crochet skills are not up to whipping up flowers and farmers to put on squares. One day though...

So thank you again to Mrs Twins for allowing me the opportunity to escape from myself for a bit and for reminding me that actually I’m really rather fortunate and that actually there are lovely people like herself out there who are doing amazing things to make people’s lives better, so I had really better pull myself together and get a grip.

There’s more about this story HERE.

Apologies for the rubbish photos but I never seem to be home during daylight at the moment!

  1. Thank you 'The Girl' for this honest post. I'm so pleased that SIBOL has come to your rescue. I do feel that crocheting relaxes and helps take your mind off things.
The Squares look great and as I've said on your blog, I am 'so grateful' for Grannies.
It will be a pleasure to receive them thank you!
