UPDATE - SATURDAY SQUARES FROM CANADA!

I've popped into SIBOL this morning to be showing you some wonderful Squares that have come all the way from Canada.  Clara has very kindly sent me some gorgeous Granny Squares.  The colours are really nice. Ice Blue, White and Brown make beautiful Granny or actually 'Grandad' Squares.  They would be ideal for our Mens Blankets.

She also sent me a Red, Green and White Granny Square this will be ideal for our Christmas Blanket, and it has arrived as we say in the UK 'just in the  nick of time!' ha.ha.  I am due to start the last of the Christmas Blankets this afternoon, so it will be a pleasure to fit your Square in Clara.

Thank you so much  for the Squares I shall definitely be finding a place for all of them. I am most grateful to you and I'm very pleased to be welcoming you to SIBOL.  You are now 'officially' one of our 'SIBOLETTES!'.

Sit back Clara with a cup of tea/coffee and have a look at your very own Slide Show!

Hello Everyone!

I'm very pleased to be showing you some pretty Squares that have come in from Belgium today.  The Squares are from ATheeC. Thank you so much for the package today.

Do you remember me telling you about ATheeC's  Daughter learning to crochet from her Mother? Well I'm
very pleased to say that her Daughter is enjoying her Crocheting still and today she has sent me some lovely Granny Squares. I am sure you will agree she has done very well with them. They are so pretty. Thank you so much. I do love to see our youngsters enjoying the Craft of Crocheting!

ATheeC's daughter (Belgium) Made these for SIBOL. Thank You!

Also ATheeC's friend was visiting the other week and she also sat down to Crochet SIBOL a Square!
So pretty and as I said in my mail to her I really love the colour combination.

ATheeC's friend made this one! Thank you Anne! Thank you all so much! Beautiful Squares!

Of course ATheeC herself sent me some great Squares.  She has enjoyed making the Squares very much and they too are also  so pretty! I think my personal favourites are the Flower Squares, you know I have a soft spot for these as we made some gorgeous Flower Blankets.

Hello Everyone!

As the title of this post suggests, I'm busy 'buzzing around' making Christmas SIBOL Blankets and what fun I'm having today!  I'm very happy to say that I have finished the first of three Christmas SIBOL Blankets. I can't tell you how excited I get with every SIBOL Blanket we 'jointly' make. This one is no exception.  The first of three Christmas SIBOL Blankets.  I always get excited when I know I am nearly finishing a Blanket.
Then I can't wait to go outside and take some photos for you.

It's pitch dark  and pouring of rain now and it's only 6.00pm but this afternoon I took the opportunity while we had some sunshine to take some photos for you.

'Buzzing around?'   Yes, that's what I said.  Thank you dear pertinitaco for your gorgeous Bumble Bee Square.  Would you like to see Ladies?

Do you remember this little fella?....pertinitaco your little Christmas Bumble Bee! complete with Christmas hat and sack! Ready to give his gifts out!!! :)

Squares from the UK today!

Good Afternoon everyone!

Well Friday is here once again, soon comes around! I do hope everyone has a pleasant weekend.

It's my pleasure today to be showing you some lovely Squares that arrived this morning. Jan from the UK, I am most grateful to you.

Do I mind Granny Squares? I am often asked.  Please don't ever feel that you have to make complicated Squares. I love Grannies or 'Grandads' as the case may be!  I think the Squares can look so different with the choice of colour, and it's always nice to see what colour combinations arrive.  I particularly like these Green ones that Jan has sent, take a look at them. The Squares seem so appropriate for this time of year with the leaves falling.

Lovely Autumny Squares, don't you just love the Grannies or Grandads!.....>

Jan very kindly sent me her 'Jan Eaton' Square. It is No. 14 'Alhambra'. So pretty!

Thank You for the 'Jan Eaton' No. 14 'Alhambra' Square!

I'm very happy to be saying that the 'Jan Eaton' Challenge seems to be very successful. The Squares are arriving fast now and it's nearly time for me to be making the Blanket up. But before I do there are a few Squares which haven't been chosen.  Take a look in the Side bar and if you fancy having a go at a Block that hasn't been chosen then please email me and let me know which number you want. sueatpigsty@talktalk.net

I can't make the Blanket up before I receive the 25 Squares! What numbers do we have left?
Let's see.    No's 1, 21.  We are trying to get 25 different Ladies, so if you have had a go already, then please don't choose another number.

Haven't got the book? Let me know I will see if I can help.

I have made you a Slide Show Jan, before I do.....I am very pleased to say you are now officially a 'SIBOLETTE!'.  Welcome to our happy group.

What do we have here? Squares, a tree and flowers from the UK!

Hello Everyone!

Having a nice day? I hope so.

I'm very pleased to be showing you some Squares that Beverley (UK) has sent to me today.  Beverley has already sent me the 'Jan Eaton' No. 3 'Square Target' but she couldn't stop there and she has made some others too.

Beverley couldn't stop at making 'Square Target' she made some others too! For the future Challenges!

Louise has already made the 'Tradtional Granny' No. 18 Beverley, so I will keep that for a future Blanket if that's okay.  But she has also made me two other 'Jan Eaton' Squares.  I think Beverley must like Jan Eatons' book because she has also made No. 53 and 81. I'm going to keep these Squares for when we go on to the other Squares of hers.

The Squares are so pretty, lovely colours and the patterns are great.

Beverley has been very busy and she has made a tree for the SIBOL Christmas Blanket. She thought it might be a nice idea to attach it on to the Christmas Blanket rather like I do with the Butterflies. Here is the link.
http://theroyalsisters.blogspot.com/2009/11/grandma-tree-tutorial.html

She also sent me some lovely flowers. She's very kindly sent me the link for these too. Would you like to have a go?

'Remember, remember the 5th Of November, Gunpowder, Treason and Plot! Introducing SIBOL No. 33! 'Bonfire Challenge' 'Guy Fawkes Delight!'

Tablecloth view of the 'Bonfire Blanket'..>

Hello Everyone!

Are you having a nice Sunday? I hope so.  It's always so nice when I have a Ta - Dah for you! Number 33, goodness, it amazes me, let alone you!

Okay now first of all thank you so much for all the beautiful Squares I have had for the 'Bonfire Challenge'. The Squares have just been absolutely wonderful. Your imagination certainly ran away with you again!

I had a smile to my face on Friday morning.  My Freezer broke down and a lovely Engineer came to the house.  Well at four rows in on my blanket it was lying on the Conservatory sofa, ends all hanging there, BUT this did not stop the nice man from remarking on it.  He first of all spotted the Bonfire picture Square in the middle. He said  a 'Bonfire Blanket?'  I said yes.  I told him the story about the Squares how they fly in from all corners of the World. Such kind generous Ladies taking part in my project.  I told him about my Grandmother and he was so interested.  He wanted a closer look.  I went and got the Blanket and bought it into the Kitchen.  I told him where each Square had travelled from.  He was just so interested SIBOLETTES! Wonderful he said.  It didn't stop there I was telling him about the other Challenges. I said I had just finished a Seaside Blanket.  So upstairs I went to fetch that one.  He absolutely loved it.

So there you are! Isn't it nice that a 'random chap' just walking into my house remarked on the beautiful of the Blanket.  BUT it didn't stop there because Little Miss Twins (2) boyfriend was here, and he started chatting to him about the Blankets also.  He even told him all about SIBOL.  How I had made the Blog with the music and the Slide Shows.  Well was I chuffed? It really made my day.

So thank you to everyone who has sent me Squares for this Challenge.  I have enough Squares for another Blanket which I shall be starting later on today after I have been to my Mothers. The Squares are absolutely beautiful once again, you certainly rose to the Challenge!

'Bonfire Challenge' Blanket - 'please add note' if you see your Square (if you can!)....>

Lots of Fireworks going off now in my Slide Show.

We have had  a Challenge on SIBOL for 'Firey, Bright, Sparkly, Explosive Squares!' There may be friends in other countries who do not know about this yearly event so I will tell you.

Guy Fawkes was brought up as a Protestant, but later became a Catholic. When James 1 became King in 1603, Guy Fawkes and other Catholics hoped for better treatment than they had received during Elizabeths 1's reign. But James 1 allowed the persecution of Catholics to continue. In 1604, a small group of Catholics, led by Robert Catesby, plotted to kill the King. They invited Guy Fawkes to join them because of his ability to deal with explosives. (A bit of a bad boy I think!)

Anyway, the plan was to blow up the House of Lords when the King came to open Parliament on 5th November 1605. They hired a cellar and filled it with gunpowder. Guy Fawkes agreed to light the fuse. But the plot was discovered, and on 4th November Guy Fawkes was arrested. Although he was tortured, at first he bravely refused to name the other conspirators. Eventually he signed a confession, and was tried and executed.

Guy Fawkes Night, also known as Bonfire night is an annual celebration held on the evening of 5th November to mark the failure of the Gunpowder Plot to blow up the Houses of Parliament.

All over the UK Fireworks are on sale, they have not as yet been banned as in Australia I think. Festivities are centred on the use of Fireworks and the lighting of Bonfires and of course many people make their own versions of Guy Fawkes to sit on top of the fires!

There you are a 'History Lesson on Guy Fawkes!' I think we succeeded with our Challenge.

Enjoy your Sunday everyone!

Squares from Spain arrive today!

Hello Everyone!

Well I'm sitting here with a nice hot cup of tea to warm me up, because it's pretty dull and cold today here in the UK.  I've just got back in from supermarket shopping and I've been longing to get these Squares on to SIBOL.  They arrived this morning from Merchy in Spain. Please pop over to her blog and say hello!

Now first of all back  in September Mandas challenges put up a pattern on here  .Mystery C.A.L.  inviting you all to have a go at making a very Special Christmas Square for SIBOL.   I am very pleased to say that Merchy had a go and here is her Square.

Squares from the Netherlands today!

Good Afternoon Everyone!

I'm just stopping by to show you some Squares that I have had come in today from the Netherlands. Sandra has very kindly sent me her 'Jan Eaton Challenge Square' which is No. 4 'Bobble Diamond'.  These Jan Eaton Squares are gorgeous.  If you would like to join our Challenge please see the side bar. You are most welcome to join us and there are some Blocks left if you'd like to have a go. We are collecting Squares 1 to 25 out of her 200 Block book (please see to the right) and it's such fun! Then when the 25 have come in I will make them into a Blanket for the Elderly.

Sandra didn't want No. 4 to be travelling on it's own, so she very kindly sent me some other Squares too. I can see she really likes making Bobbles in her Squares.  I just love all the colours in these Squares but take a look at the other four Squares too. Beautiful colours, thank you so much.  I love them all and I'm pleased you have enjoyed the Challenge with us.

You too Sandra are a 'SIBOLETTE' now! Welcome!

'Jan Eaton' flys in from Australia!

Good Afternoon Everyone!

Lovely day here again, the sun is shining and leaves are falling. Is it Summer or Autumn I'm wondering?
Anyway, Maree from Australia has very kindly sent me her 'Jan Eaton' Square. 'Bars and Diamonds' (No. 23).  Maree has already sent me two of the same number, but she's wondering which one will be best for me.

I'm always amazed at how Squares look when you use different colours! Here's todays!

I love the two contrasting colours used in this one.

Then we have the other two that Maree sent.

They are all lovely Maree. Thank you.  I shall wait until I make the Blanket up and decide then. But I shall find a use for the other two be assured!

Now I had an email from Beverley this morning one of our SIBOLETTES! She was wondering whether I'd do a shout out for her. Would you like to have a read and see if you are interested.  I have to say this has nothing at all to do with SIBOL.  Beverley is just trying to drum up some support for another Co-ordinator Shelly who is trying to get her own project off the ground. Would you be interested?

Now I'm doing this the easy way.  I've copied and pasted the words from Beverley's email, for the simple reason I thought it would be better coming from her.  She doesn't have a Blog (I'm working on that) so she can't write a team post herself.

Beverley said:

I know that we can’t make a children’s blanket over here (which is madness!!) but I have crocheted squares for children with cancer in Texas for a group which I found on Ravelry. I have put the urls below for the blog and the flicker group.

http://thiseclecticlife.com/share-a-square-2010-faq/
http://www.flickr.com/photos/thiseclecticlife/sets/72157606612996699/

I don’t want to distract from SIBOL as what you are doing is fantastic and so worthwhile but I wondered if you could maybe put the details on the SIBOL site so that if any of the Sibolettes had any spare time in the next couple of months they may be able to contribute to this “challenge” too? They are trying to make 150 blankets which is no mean feat and are trying to get squares from all over the world. They ask for tags for each of the squares that will be laminated and attached to the blankets so that the children can see where their blanket has come from. I sent my squares off a couple of weeks ago and got a lovely note back from Shelly (the co-ordinator).

Thanks Beverley. It's up to you now if you want to help. Click on the links and have a read.

Welcome to all our new Followers and many thanks once again for the lovely comments on 'Beach Picnic!'. SIBOL No. 32.

Have a good day everyone!
