Experimental Squares by Kimbles

I would like to share with you today, my two experimental squares which I have prepared for the Sunshine blanket.  I had  one particular design running round in my head but wasn't sure if it would work.  The idea came to me whilst browsing through this book by Renate Kirkpatrick

which has some really different ideas with crochet, so this is how I started

a sunshine spiral using two zingy colours! Then I had the problem of how to turn it into a square hmmmmm!
After several disasterous attempts - this materialised

Now of course, you may feel it is another disasterous attempt!  but I quite like it and it certainly has the sunshine factor and it is very different.  Incidentally spiral crochet is absorbing - I feel a cushion coming on in this technique!

For my second experimental square I played about overlaying a chain pattern to make a kind of a decorative centre to my square - and actually I am rather pleased with this one too - I think it would be quite effective in a blanket with different coloured chain flowerish centres

So when I get a moment these will be winging there way to Sue to be added to the Sunshine blanket.

Speak soon xx
