'The Story of 'SIBOL' No. 7. Thank you Damaris your Blanket is finished!

Hi Everyone!

Well it's Friday and the weekend is near. I do hope everyone has a good weekend. I'm so pleased to introduce you to 'SIBOL' NO. 7. Now back at the start of March I received some Squares from Damaris. Not just a couple of Squares but '25 Squares!' I know I was so chuffed....... Here's the stack.......

Damaris - Puerto Rico - Do you remember when your Squares arrived 8/3/10? I stacked them by my Birdcage! PLEASE FOLLOW THE PHOTOS!! THE MAKING OF 'SIBOL' NO. 7 please read on..........

I showed them to you!

I played with them, I touched them.....Everyone admired them!

I planned the Blanket on the carpet.

I lay them on my Lounge Carpet and arranged them........

I started edging them and joining them together (My way)....

I crocheted the Border.......

Finally here's my finished Blanket with lots of thanks to Damaris who sent me the 25 Squares! Would you like to name the Blanket Damaris!

I thought why not put my Bird Cage and Stork with your Blanket!

I have enjoyed making this Blanket so....much! I just love the pastel colours, the wool was so easy to work with. It was such a joy! Thank you so much Damaris.

Wow! Beautiful. How come mine don't look as nice as that lol? Must try some different styles esp now I have my crochet books ;-).

So pretty I love crocheting but I havent done anything in a long time.Im a new folower here hope to visit again soon and maybe learn some of your lovely ideas.

Such a pretty blanket. I have been admiring them all but forgot about all the ends!!!! So many to sew in - such a large job.
Lucky its done with and for love, makes it bearable

to Elderly Residents in Care/Nursing Homes.

Would you like to help us?

We no longer accept Squares but we do accept

your Crocheted and Knitted Blankets. We also

accept Knitted and Crocheted Shawls.

Donations of Sunshine Blankets/Shawls/Butterflies can be accepted between these dates.

1st March to 30th November 2016. Thank you.

I am often asked if there are 'collection points' around the country. Some Ladies find the cost of postage too expensive. There is a way round this. Why not make your Sunshine Blanket and donate it to your 'local' Care Home? If you want to contact me for a a pdf 'label' I will willingly send it to you. You can do this on behalf of our Group 'SIBOL' if that would help you. On the understanding that you would send me a photo of your blanket and the name of the Home where you have donated it to. I can then count this in to our totals.

Lists of Care Homes are available by contacting me.

This would be a great way of getting Sunshine Blankets to the Elderly in other parts of the country and not just 'Birmingham'.

The Lost Stash by Sally 'Chunky Hooker'.

Whilst rummaging in the scrap cupboard, I heard a plaintive cry " She never looks in our little bag, Can you tell me why? " A voice replied, "We're old and tatty, A little bit worn out, Our colours dull, our fibres matted, Now don't give me that pout!" "But I want to be a 'Sibolette', I really, really do! To be part of a Sibol, Made by the lovely Sue. It's my destiny, my dream, my fate!" The voice was getting higher, "I may be old but it's never too late, I'm not ready to retire". "Oh gosh", I thought, That sounds like me, Slightly worn, with a dodgy knee. So I'm off to college, A Diploma to gain And the voices of the Lost Stash? "Sibolettes" they became!
